Two men die in separate car crashes

The incidents took place in Louth today and Longford at the weekend.

A MAN HAS died after the car he was travelling in crashed overnight.

The incident took place near Brannigan’s Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road in Co Louth at around 1am.

The man (32) was seriously injured when the car he was driving left the road and struck a ditch.

He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí say a forensic examination of the scene is due to be carried out later today. The road remains closed.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who was travelling the Collon to Tinure Road between 12.30am and 1am overnight, are asked to contact them at Ardee on 041 6871130, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111, or any Garda Station.

Separately, a 19-year-old man has died following a car crash in Longford on Sunday morning.
