FISHER PRICE HAS recalled more than 3,000 toys and high chairs in Ireland amid concerns of their safety for babies and small children.
The toy company has recalled more than ten million toys in the USA, all of which were in its baby range. Seven chuildren in the US were hospitalised after they were injured as a result of faulty high chairs.
The high chairs have pegs on the back legs of the chair, which pose a health hazard. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission puts the number of the high chairs recalled in the US and Canada and over a million.
In the UK, almost a quarter of a million toys and high chairs have been recalled, parent company Mattel said.
The National Consumer Agency warned that “people should stop using the products listed right immediately and contact Fisher-Price for a replacement or repair” reports the Irish Independent.
The toys affected also include the Little People Rampway sets, which include cars marked ‘Mexico’. The wheels on these cars are a choking hazard as they can be removed easily.
Nearly a thousand of these toys were sold in Ireland between April and September 2010 and Fisher-Price warned that those cars without a yellow dot on the bottom should not be used.
