2. #PORTIUNCULA: Health Minister Leo Varadkar has said Ireland’s maternity services ‘are safe’, following news that new monitoring processes were put in place at a hospital to address issues identified in the care of seven babies.

3. #POINTS: Garda whistleblower John Wilson has called for the penalty points system to be overhauled after a report revealed that senior gardaí are still breaching policy by cancelling penalty points.

4. #SPLISH SPLASH: The European Commission has expressed concerns about the Government’s revised water charges package, but the Government has said there is ‘no question’ of altering it.
