GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock.

EVERY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you the five big news stories you need to know.

1. #GERMANWINGS: It is believed that Andreas Lubitz, the 28-year-old co-pilot of flight 4U9525, deliberately crashed the plane into the French Alps on Tuesday while his captain was locked outside the cockpit.

2. #DRUMCONDRA MURDER: A man has been shot dead near the Cat and Cage pub in Drumcondra, Dublin – locals heard “five or six” gunshots this morning.

3. #GRAHAM DWYER TRIAL: The jury charged with deciding if Graham Dwyer murdered Elaine O’Hara has retired for the night and will resume their deliberations tomorrow morning. The jury members had asked earlier today to see several exhibits again, including a runner found at the scene where Ms O’Hara’s body was found, knives, a spade and a rucksack.

4. #NO BULLYING: Former Irish Times editor Geraldine Kennedy, one of several news executives to speak to the banking inquiry today about the media’s role in the property crisis, hit back strongly at any suggestion that the paper’s editorial policy was influenced by politicians. “I wasn’t bullied by Charlie Haughey when I was in my 20s, so i was hardly going to be bullied by lesser politicians when I was in my 50s,” she said.

5. #WAR CRIMES: Amnesty International has released a report which accuses Palestinian militant group Hamas of committing war crimes during last year’s Gaza conflict.
