1. #RYANAIR Passengers on board a Ryanair plane which hit turbulence, causing injuries to five people, said there was no access to a first-aid kit on the flight. They said a person attending an injured passenger had to wear plastic bags on their hands. The airline said all its crew are proficient in basic first aid training.

2. #WATERFORD Bausch + Lomb is to invest €6mn in its Waterford plant after staff accepted a 7.5% reduction in basic pay. Staff are being informed about the investment today. SIPTU welcomed the announcement, saying its members had made a “very difficult decision”.

3. #HACKING The jury in the UK phone hacking case have been dismissed after failing to reach a verdict on extra charges against Andy Coulson. Coulson was found guilty yesterday of phone hacking between October 2000 and August 2006.

4. #TUAM BABIES The mother-and-baby probe needs to examine at least 100 institutions, survivors have told Children’s Minister Charlie Flanagan. Groups including Adoption Rights Alliance and Bethany Home Survivors met with Flanagan today.

5. #LEICESTER The eight men convicted over the death of the Taufiq family in an arson attack in Leicester are to receive a combined 132 years in jail. Their revenge attack led to the death of the wife and children of Dublin-based neurosurgeon Muhammad Taufiq Abdulsattar.
