FIVE TEENAGE MEN have been injured following an overnight slashing incident at the Oxegen music festival in Punchestown.

Gardaí said the incident occurred just after 4am at B23 on the Blue Campsite – one of the three large campsites at the festival site in Co Kildare.

Four of the men who were injured were treated on site, while a fifth man aged 19 was removed to Tallaght General Hospital where he is still being treated. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A weapon used in the attack has been recovered by Gardaí.

Some festivalgoers from the campsite reported being woken up at around 5am by Gardaí seeking witnesses to the incident. Witnesses are still being sought, and can contact any Garda station with information.

One transport worker told TheJournal.ie that a handful of campers from the site had decided to leave this morning.

The families of the injured men have all been informed.
