Too Rich

Nine outrageously expensive menu items you can buy around the world

You can get a €732 scoop of ice cream featuring edible 23-carat gold flakes in Dubai.

YOU CAN ORDER a €732 scoop of ice cream featuring edible 23-carat gold flakes in Dubai.

That seems like pocket change compared to the €13,000 dessert found in The Fortress Resort and Spa in Sri Lanka.

We rounded up some of the most expensive dishes you can purchase around the world, from Las Vegas to Malta.

Here are nine that are sure to break the bank:

Head to New York City’s Serendipity 3 for a $1,000 (€896) Golden Opulence Sundae: Tahitian vanilla ice cream topped in edible 23-carat gold leaf, rare and expensive chocolate, candied fruits, chocolate truffles, and caviar. You’ll enjoy your thousand-dollar sundae out of a Baccarat Harcourt goblet with an 18-carat gold spoon.

You’ll find a $1,000 (€896) Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata on the menu at Norma’s in New York City. It’s topped with 10 ounces of caviar, six eggs, and an entire lobster. You can always opt for the smaller version with 1 ounce of caviar for $100 (€89).

If you’ve had enough Shake Shack or In-N-Out, you can mix things up with a $5,000 (€4,400) Fleur Burger at the Las Vegas restaurant Fleur. The hamburger is fashioned from opulent Kobe beef, black truffles, and foie gras, and served with two sides: crisp fries and a rare bottle of 1995 Petrus wine.

The King Cole Bar at the St Regis New York serves $760 (€680) cognac out of an elaborate crystal bottle with a top made of gold. If the glass isn’t enough, you can drink the bottle for a little over $7,000 (€6,200).

The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence, found in The Fortress Resort and Spa in Sri Lanka, will cost you €13,000. Considered more of a challenge than a sweet dish, it’s a gold-leaf Italian cassata decorated with a handmade chocolate carving in the shape of a local stilt fisherman and an 80-carat Aquamarine stone.

In New Orleans, Arnaud’s serves a $3.95 (€3.54) million dessert: its namesake, the Strawberries Arnaudits. While the strawberries are tasty, what makes the price tag so outrageous is the diamond that comes with this engagement package.

You’ll find the world’s most expensive ice cream at Scoopi Cafe in Dubai: The $817 (€732) Black Diamond flavour featuring edible 23-carat gold flakes, Madagascar vanilla ice cream, Iranian saffron, and black truffle. If you dish out the money for the scoop, you’ll get to keep the Versace bowl and spoon it’s served with.

You can buy a $100 (€86) foot long bratwurst at DougieDog in Montreal, Canada. The Dragon Dog is infused with a vintage $2,000 (€1,700) Louis XIII cognac and topped with lobster, picante sauce, and Kobe beef seared in olive and truffle oil.
