Man arrested for allegedly threatening a garda with a firearm

This happened shortly after 3pm this evening.

A MAN IN Dublin has been arrested after an alleged firearm incident in which he was said to have threatened a garda.

This happened shortly after 3pm this afternoon in the Francis Street/ Thomas Street area of the city.

It is understood that the man, who is in his 40s, was in a van at the time and pointed the gun at an An Garda Síochána member.

This happened after the van the man was in was pulled over by a member of the garda traffic corps.

He was arrested and taken to Pearse Street Garda Station where he is currently being detained.

He is being held under the Offence Against the State Act.

The incident is currently under investigation.
