GAA star in a coma after clash in US match

Mark McGovern was playing in San Francisco when he was seriously injured in an off-the-ball incident at the weekend.

A GAA STAR from Fermanagh is fighting for his life in hospital in the US after an off-the-ball incident left him in a coma it is reported this morning.

The Irish Daily Star reports that Mark McGovern, 22, was injured during his first game for the US club Ulster Club San Francisco on Saturday. He was in the California city to begin a three-month stint playing with the gaelic football side.

McGovern, who is on the fringes of the Fermanagh senior team is reported to have clashed with a player on the opposing Celts side. After receiving medical attention on the pitch, he was rushed to hospital where although he has improved, he remains in a critical condition according to the Star.
