Six arrested in operation targeting Galway drug dealers

Gardaí said further arrests are expected in this operation that has been running since August last year.

GARDAÍ IN GALWAY have arrested six people in an operation targeting local drug dealers.

The division drugs unit has been running an operation in the city to target the sale of heroin, cannabis and other illegal drugs by street dealers since August last year.

Early this morning they arrested six people who are now being detained at Galway Garda Station. Gardaí said this morning that further arrests are expected.

Those arrested are scheduled to appear before a special sitting of Galway District Court this afternoon. Gardaí said the aim of the operation was to focus on the sale of these drugs and to target a number of local dealers along with other known national dealers.
