Woman dies in early morning Galway road crash

The woman’s car collided with a wall in Moycullen.

A WOMAN HAS died after the car she was driving crashed into a wall in the village of Moycullen early this morning.

The crash happened at about 4.30am on the N59, the main Galway to Clifden road.

The woman, who was in her mid-50s, was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to University Hospital Galway.

The car was also carrying a male passenger in his early-50s who was not seriously injured in the crash. He was also taken to University Hospital Galway where he is being treated.

A post-mortem on the deceased woman is due to take place.

The road at the scene is currently closed and diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was on the road close to the accident at the time to contact them.
