FROM MIDNIGHT, AN immediate, all-out strike Bus √Čireann strike began.
The National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) said in a statement that all five unions representing workers had met in relation to a letter sent by Bus √Čireann workers detailing cost-cutting measures that were to be implemented immediately.
They decided they had no alternative but to strike.
The state-owned transport company faced losses of ‚ā¨10 million last year. Bus √Čireann says it needs to make changes to employee contracts to keep the company viable.
These¬†include job losses, changes to bus routes, cuts in overtime and a range of other measures.
