Garda charged with theft and fraud offences in Cork city

The man was originally arrested last year

A 45-YEAR-OLD member of An Garda Síochána has been charged with a number of theft and fraud offences after being arrested in Cork city this morning.

The man was charged under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act, 2001 at Cork District Court this afternoon.

He was released on bail to appeal again before Cork City District Court on 16 February.

Gardaí say the investigation in the case began in 2014 on foot of a complaint made to them.

The man was originally arrested on 10 December 2015 and was released pending a file being sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Today, he was again arrested and subsequently charged.
