God the guards must be cacking themselves at nighttime this is wayyyyy out of hand.. Fair play to the cops for standing on the thin blue line keeping the scum at bay despite the complete disregard shown to them by the inept govt. My local Garda station has a clapped out mondeo thats shoddy looking im not feeling too confident its gonna last much longer by the looks of it. Its high time the cowboys in the Dail and Gardai HQ copped on and better equipped the boys in blue with proper police special cars and protective gear. Rant over.

with garda numbers falling i think its time to arm them. I have traveled a good bit and any city that the police are armed you don’t see any messing. gun crime is on the increase and with a police not equipped it will only get worse

Sorry i was wrong a better idea would be for the guards to catch these criminals maybe up to 100 times give them short sentences and unlimited bail and wait until they shoot some innocent person or maybe a child, then give them a nice long sentence with a few years suspended, a few years off for pleading guilty, a few off for good behaviour and because our jails are full and we will need space for those criminals who refuse to pay their TV licence or household charge another few years off. So say we take the week in court off hold them until lunchtime and send them on their way with a please don’t do it again message ringing in their ears.

That’s a bit too close for comfort! Was just starting pilates in Tallaght Leisure last night when myself and another woman heard the shots. Oddly enough something I never experienced in all my life in NY but then never experienced helicopters over the house in the middle of the night like we do here and I hear is a typical experience in LA.

Please bear in mind that ALL these recent shootings are within a half mile radius, so all in the same area, it isnt the ‘whole’ of Tallaght. This will all blow over for a while and we’ll be back down to Limerick for a while with more madness!

Not only would I arm them I’d give each guard ten bullets to use however he likes no questions asked.

See no reason to arm the Gardai on normal patrol. We already have special response units that are armed. Looking towards America it would be hard to justify the claim that armed police has reduced gun crime.

I’m for arming the Gardai, it is just time for this to happen. My worry is that it is gonna get worse. When will we stand up for the Gardai. After the next murder, or the one after that/
