GARDAÍ HAVE RELEASED without charge a man arrested yesterday in connection the murder of Donegal pensioner Seamus Doherty.
A woman, who was also arrested yesterday, remains in custody.
The male, aged in his 40s, and woman, aged in her 50s, were both detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Letterkenny Garda Station in Thursday.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Seamus Doherty, 67, was found deceased in Churchill, Co Donegal on 17 June, after gardaí and emergency services were called to a house at Drumacnoo near the village of Churchill. He was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Letterkenny Hospital.
Following a post-mortem examination carried out by the State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy on 19 June, it was established that Doherty died in suspicious circumstances.
An incident room was set up at Letterkenny garda station and gardaí began a murder investigation.
