A NEW POLL on same-sex marriage has found opinions remained the same as the last one in November, with 76 per cent saying they would vote in favour of allowing gay couples to marry.
The Red C poll, which was carried out for RTÉ’s Prime Time and the Sunday Business Post, found that 41 per cent believe those who oppose same-sex marriage are homophobic, while 59 per cent disagreed.
This poll of 1,000 people was carried out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Just 19 per cent of respondents were opposed to the introduction of same-sex marriage and 5 per cent were undecided.
On the issue of adoption, 41 per cent still have reservations about gay couples being allowed to do this. However 80 per cent said that people in same-sex relationships should be able to have the same rights as traditional families.
