Girl, 15, dies after being struck by car in Galway

The teenager was walking with a friend in the Gaeltacht port area of Ros A Mhíl when she was struck last night.

A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL has died after being struck by a car in western Galway.

The teenager was out walking with a friend at Ros A Mhíl, known as the port for sailings to the Aran Islands, when she was struck at around 9:45pm.

The girl was taken to University College Hospital, Galway where she was pronounced dead later last night.

The driver of the car and the girl’s companion, both male, were not injured.

The road remains closed to facilitate a forensic examination and local traffic diversions are in place.
