That bit of The Spinc down towards Gleanealo bridge can be slippy in the wet and no matter how young/old you are, you can still end up on your arse. I sincerely wish that woman a speedy recovery and that she’s back up on the hills in the late Spring ;)

The spink is a lovely walk I do monthly, and pass many hiking groups who use it as an intro hike as it is a challenge to some. I know many running groups go out also, which is nuts but I’ve never heard a problem as anyone ascending the 11k 450meter area as they know how to take care of themselves should they find themselves in trouble.
Using 4 hiking sticks sloted between two people with rucksacks and the injured party sits on the sticks and they carry on to a level ground where rescue can access them easier.
Please don’t think the spink as easy, if interested look into hiking clubs as they can guide you, show you wonderful views of the country and above all are trained to deal with any problems that may arise.
