Google Glass goes for style by launching prescription frames collection

The prescription frames are made from lightweight titanium to help offset the weight of Glass’ processor and battery.

GOOGLE GLASS WEARERS will be a little harder to spot after the company has released prescription frames for the device

Naming it the Titanium Collection, it will be offering four different frames which it has designed itself and can fit in corrective lenses.

The frames have been made from lightweight titanium to offset the weight of the device’s processor and battery.

The frames will be sold for $225 (€165), on top of the $1,500 (€1,100) the device itself costs. The device will be positioned over the lens meaning it won’t be as noticeable.

The company has struck a deal with VSP, the US’s largest optical health insurance provider, to provide subsidised frames and prescription deals for Glass. The company, which insures one-fifth of Americans, will help make it more affordable and help Google reach a broader market.

Google Glass is planning a public launch later this year where it will be sold for a lower price, while Samsung is reportedly planning to release its own version of Glass in September.
