heat wave

Grab your shorts, we might get a 'heat wave' this week

Irish Weather Online’s forecast says that temperatures may reach the 20s this week – even up to 27 or 28°C in the southeast.

WHERE HAS THE Irish summer been? Hiding behind a cloud, that’s where.

But it looks like we might get a brief taster of summer weather this week – although nothing like the record-breaking temperatures experienced in the USA this week.

According to Peter O’Donnell at Irish Weather Online, many places in Ireland could reach 23 – 24°C today if the sun “cooperates”.

Tomorrow, weather in the eastern and central counties could turn from cloudy to sunny with highs of 23 – 27°C, and highs in the west of 18 – 23°C.

By Thursday, the temperature could reach 21°C, nicely gearing us up for a weekend of sun, with sunny Friday promising highs of 20 – 24°C.

Saturday, says the site, “may be the warmest day of the period” with some places maybe hitting 27 or 28 degrees centigrade around the southeast of the country.

The warm spell will continue through Sunday and, apparently, onto the beginning of August, before the inevitable mid-week showers start again.

So grab your shorts, sun-cream, hang sangwiches and beach parasol and make the most of the brief sunrays that we might get this week.
