SUSI
Student Grants

Over 90 per cent of students awarded grants have been paid say SUSI

A total of 43,000 students have a grant decision at this point compared to 6,000 students at this time last year.

THE STUDENT GRANT  awarding body SUSI says that 39,000 students have been paid their grants for the current academic year.

The figure accounts for over 90 per cent of those who have been awarded grants this year.

The remaining 4,000 students who have been awarded grants but have not yet received a payment will be paid as soon as their colleges confirm that they are registered and when students provide their bank details according to SUSI.

The total of 43,000 who at this point have been told they have been awarded a grant is a dramatic increase on the 6,000 students who had their decision this time last year.

SUSI says that all those who submitted documents on time and qualified for a grant have now received a decision. Those subsequently asked for additional information will receive notification within four weeks they add.

SUSI say they are however still awaiting documents from 18,000 students, of whom 7,000 have not submitted any documents to support their applications.

Students can follow the progress of late applications on the body’s online tracker system.
