Police are appealing for information.

POLICE IN BELFAST are appealing for information after a man was robbed at gunpoint this morning.

It happened in the Westrock Gardens area, in the west of the city, around 10.30am.

The victim of the robbery, a credit agent aged in his 70s, was uninjured in the incident.

The mugger – who made off with a sum of cash – was wearing a balaclava, a black leather jacket and is described as being around 5’6″ tall, of slim build and with a Belfast accent.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101,” Detective Constable Gareth Hussey said in a statement.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
