SURREALIST PAINTER Salvador Dalí celebrates his birthday today. The eccentric painter was born in Spain and is best known for being one of the leading figures in the Surrealist movement.

His body of work spans decades – but his best known work is The Persistence of Memory. Here is a round-up of some of his dream-like creations:
