Poll: Do you have health insurance ... or did you ditch it after the downturn?

The issue’s back in the news today. But how much do you know about your health insurance policy?

THE ISSUE OF HEALTH insurance is back in the news this morning with the announcement that AIG is taking over the country’s second largest insurer in the sector here, Laya.

It’s estimated some 300,000 customers have ditched their cover since the start of the downturn — while the Irish Times reports this morning that many people fear coalition plans to introduce universal insurance will hit them in the pocket. The findings were contained in a report commissioned by the Government.

This morning, we’re asking: Do you have health insurance — and do you pay any attention to what’s in your policy?

Poll Results:

I have it, and I know exactly what I'm covered for. (2591)
Yes, I have it. But I'm not sure what's in the policy. (2157)
Had to ditch it after the crash, unfortunately. (2006)
Never took it up. (1655)
No opinion/no interest (127)
