Baby jousting and bog mini-monsters: It's Heritage Week

Free events around the country have been introducing every age to the hidden treasures in their locality.

FIERSOME WARRIORS, AREN’T they? This is Richard Humphreys and Finnian Mc Veigh in a (mock) jousting battle at the Athenry Walled Town celebration this weekend.

The boys were taking part in one of the 1,700+ events happening around the country all of this week to celebrate our National Heritage Week.

You can find out what’s happening in your area – and indeed register your own event – at heritageweek.ie. There are two free apps, one each for Android and iPhone.

The photographic team from Heritage Week have shared a number of images with us of some of the events that have already taken place. Fun times.
