Gardaí find €140k worth of heroin in 'suspicious car' with boot left open

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw people around the green Ford Focus yesterday to get in touch.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have seized a quantity of heroin worth €140,000 from a car that was reported as suspicious.

A call of a suspicious car parked on Portland Street North was received by gardaí at Mountjoy garda station yesterday. When they approached the car, they noticed the boot was open and found two packages on the spare tyre.

They believed the packages contained a controlled substance and impounded it. The substance in the bags was later identified as heroin with a street value of €140,000.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen individuals acting suspiciously around the car, a green Ford Focus, between 11.30am and 1pm yesterday to contact them.

Anyone who knows something can contact Mountjoy on 01 6668600, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
