Hit and run: Man arrested over crash that left pedestrian seriously injured

The crash happened on Tuesday afternoon at a village on the Cavan-Westmeath border.

A MAN IN his 20s has been arrested connection with a hit and run that left a pedestrian in a serious condition in hospital.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at Magheraboy Upper in Finnea — a village in Westmeath on the border with Cavan.

The victim, who is aged 38, is continuing to receive treatment at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin this morning.

The man arrested last night is being held for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Cavan Garda Station.

A car has also been seized as part of the investigation.
