New owners promise to honour old HMV gift vouchers

HMV on Henry Street will reopen this week with a performance from The Strypes.

GOOD NEWS FOR anyone with an old HMV gift voucher sitting in a drawer: the new owners of the soon-to-reopen chain have promised that they will honour gift cards that were bought in the chain’s previous incarnation.

Restructuring company Hilco Capital, which bought HMV earlier this year in a deal worth around €59 million, said gift cards which were not honoured during the receivership of the old business will now be accepted.

Four shops – three in Dublin and one in Limerick – are due to reopen in the coming days. The new flagship store on Henry Street in Dublin city centre will reopen this Friday with an in-store performance by The Strypes.

HMV said today that it will announce details of exactly how the gift cards can be redeemed on Wednesday.
