What's the most popular foreign destination for the Irish?

Hint: It’s not that far from home.

TRAVELLERS FROM IRELAND are choosing to stay close to home this summer with the latest research from hotel search website trivago.ie showing Dublin is the most popular Irish destination.

Although people are choosing to holiday at home, people are still spending above average on hotels. An average of €128 is being spent on hotels in Dublin and and the same in the second most popular destination, Galway.

However a lot of people are still choosing to leave Ireland for their holidays and the most popular foreign city is London with the average hotel price set at €209.

Spain is the most popular foreign country to holiday in with four destinations in the country making the top ten list.

Additional figures show Irish-based travellers begin researching hotel prices 112 days before travelling and book an average of 96 days in advance. They will spend an average of €127 per night on hotels this summer.
