Remember these hugging dogs? They finally have a new home

The two pups were saved from being put down in July, but still needed a forever home.

IF YOU HAVE any kind of heart, it was broken in July when images of Kala and Kiera surfaced.

The two dogs were pictured hugging in a pound in Georgia, US, hours before they were due to be put down.

The image quickly went viral, and little more than two hours later members of an animal rescue charity, Angels Among Us, had taken the pups – a 11-year-old hound mix and 15-month-old boxer mix – into their care.

While they were saved from being euthanised, the pair still didn’t have a permanent home.

That changed this week.

Kala and Kiera was adopted by two friends who spotted their story in People magazine, and were shocked to find the dogs were still looking for a home.

“I knew I just had to call,” Wendy, who adopted the dogs, said.

Angels Among Us wrote on their Facebook page that Wendy had recently lost her two elderly dogs, and when they saw that Kala and Kiera were still available “it just fell together”.

We turned our tears into smiles with these two young, playful dogs.

Wendy says she plans to create a Facebook page to keep people up to date with the two Hugging Dogs.
