Come As You Are: It's the ultimate 1990s playlist

Get in. We’re going on a journey.

IT WAS THE decade of grunge, rave culture, riot grrls, Britpop, and some of the most shimmering pop tunes of the 20th century.

The 1990s might be back in fashion now (seriously) but at the time the music scene was a messy, joyful mix of giddy escapism, nihilistic angst and ironic detachment.

After much consultation, we’ve put together the ultimate 1990s playlist of songs that have stood the test of time. Yes, Oasis are there. No, that song that you love that reminds you of those friends you used to know may not be, because we weren’t allowed to make a playlist that was 82 hours long.

But don’t worry. There’s a load of other good stuff here. So get in your car, throw on the playlist, and enjoy.
