Viable improvised explosive device made safe in Co Clare

The device was found in a private residence and was made safe just before midnight.

THE ARMY BOMB disposal team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Tulla, Co Clare last night.

The team were deployed to the Main Street in Tulla, at the request of Gardaí, and arrived at 11pm.

The area was cordoned off and local residents were evacuated to a safe location.

The device, which was located in a private residence, was made safe on-site and has been handed over to Gardaí in order to assist them in their investigation.

The scene was declared safe at 11:50pm.
