Protesters outside Leinster House are campaigning for feral cats to be taken off the vermin list.

A HANDFUL OF protesters, calling for protections for cats to be included in the forthcoming Animal Welfare Bill, have started a small demonstration outside Leinster House today.

The Feral Cats Ireland group believes that the current Government regards cats as “worthless vermin”. It wants cats to be removed from the vermin list immediately

Protesters are also demanding that cats be provided for in the new Bill. There are currently about 731,000 feral cats in Ireland.
