AN INDIAN COURT has convicted four men in the December gang rape of a young woman on a moving bus in New Delhi.

Sentences for the men, who were convicted today and face the possibility of hanging, are expected to be handed down tomorrow.

Last month, a juvenile court handed down the first conviction in the fatal rape of the young woman sentencing a teen to three years in a reform home.

The brutal rape set off waves of protest in India, giving voice to years of anger over the treatment of women and a silent epidemic of sexual harassment and rape.
