Arrest made after man found critically injured on Dublin street

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the man was discovered on a street in Inchicore last night.

Updated 5.35pm

A MAN HAS been arrested by gardaí investigating the discovery of another man found critically injured on a street in Dublin last night.

The man in his mid-40s was discovered on Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore, Dublin 8 at around 9.25pm last night. He was taken to nearby St James’s hospital where he is currently being treated.

Details of the type of injuries or how they were sustained have not been released.

This evening, gardaí said they have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the incident. He is being detained at Kilmainham Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí have appealed to a taxi driver, driving a light coloured Skoda Octavia (new model), who may have picked up a man on Tryconnell Road at around 9.20pm last night, near Golden Bridge Industrial Estate to contact them.

Tyrconnell Road is close to the Royal Hospital Kilmainham where tens of thousands of people attended a Blur concert last night. The taxi drove the man in the direction of the canal, gardaí said.

They are appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time to contact Gardai in Kilmainham in 01 666 9712, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
