Poll: Should Ireland join the Commonwealth?

Let’s have a heated debate.

AS THE UK election results continue to roll in – we’ve another British-themed question for you this morning: should Ireland join the British Commonwealth?

A Conservative MP, writing last year at the time of Michael D’s State Visit, said times had ‘moved on’. “The association of the Commonwealth is about unity through diversity. 54 countries around the world, not all linked to Britain, is an important organisation because of its power of cooperation and shared ideal.”

The Taoiseach, it should be noted, said in a 2013 visit to London that it wasn’t something he could foresee happening.

What do you think?
