Ireland praised for responsible drinking initiative

Check out last year’s finalists from the Dare2BDrinkAware.ie, a film and multimedia competition that has been praised at an EU forum in Brussels today.

A MULTIMEDIA AND film project launched by DrinkAware.ie in 2007 has been praised at European level for promoting the responsible use of alcohol amongst third-level students.

The Dare2BDrinkAware campaign was highlighted as a model of best practice at the European Alcohol and Health Forum in Brussels today.

The campaign involves a multimedia and film project targeted at Ireland’s college students. Participants are asked to submit short films or multimedia projects that focus on responsible drinking.

The 2012 competition is now open and centres on the theme of “drinking in the home environment”. The winners are presented with cash prizes and could have their videos screened in public.

Last year, Ciara Kennedy’s winning reality TV-style mockumentary shows some Irish ladies getting ready for a night on the tiles (literally):

The Ignorant Truth is a clever take on two friends – one drunk and one sober – getting a taxi home:

This film was shot with an aim to stop students playing competitive drinking games:
