It took just four seconds of the year for Ireland's first baby of 2015 to be born

Another baby in Dublin was born 13 seconds later.

IRELAND’S FIRST BABY of 2015 arrived just four seconds into the year.

Kian Anthony Burke was born at Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital at four seconds after midnight, weighing seven pounds, two ounces.

He narrowly beat the first baby born across the capital at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street.

Ellie Dormer arrived at 17 seconds after 12, weighing seven pounds, 14 ounces. She joins sister Katie and mum and dad Sinead and Crevan.

In Limerick, the first baby arrived at 16 minutes past the hour and in Cork University Maternity Hospital, three girls were born overnight, the first at 1.02am.
