rush hour ruined

Thousands of Dublin rail commuters affected by theft of signal cables

DART and commuter services were off between Bray and Dalkey throughout rush hour this morning.

Update: 10.34am

RAIL SERVICES HAVE resumed between Bray and Dalkey, after major disruption on the south Dublin line this morning.

DART and commuter services were off throughout the morning rush hour, due to the theft of signal cables at Shankill.

It had been hoped the problem would be fixed by 8am, but the issue turned out to be more complicated that originally thought.

Commuter services were restored first, and Irish Rail confirmed shortly after 10am that the line was now fully open in both directions.

The company said minor delays could still be expected as the schedule returned to normal.
