THE BODY OF an Irish student has been recovered by authorities in New York after the man went missing while rafting on the Delaware River on Saturday afternoon.

Davin Harrison, 20, who was in the US on a student work visa, got into trouble while swimming beside a raft in an area of rapids. Another rafter is reported to have jumped in to help him but the Harrison, who wasn’t wearing a life jacket, went under and did not resurface.

Authorities had been searching for his body since Saturday and it is understood it was recovered at about 12.30pm local time yesterday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is offering assistance to the man’s family through its consulate in New York.
