AN EXPLOSION HIT an Israeli diplomat’s car on the streets of New Delhi on Monday, injuring one person.
It is also being reported that a worker employed by the Israeli embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, saw an object attached to a car and alerted police.
Haaretz says the car was used by the Israeli envoy to the country and the object was en explosive device that was neutralised.
Israeli officials have not identified the person who was injured but Haaretz claims she is the wife of the Defense Ministry’s representative to India.
The explosion took place in the late afternoon close to the embassy, said embassy spokesman David Goldfarb.
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said: ”We are looking into the incident and cooperation with local security forces is excellent.”
Indian police said only that a car was on fire on the street outside the embassy.
Journalist Joji Philip Thomas of The Economic Times tweeted a picture of the aftermath of the explosion, saying he saw it right in front of him.
He said that a woman was in the car and asked to be taken to the Israeli embassy.
