Cahillane was last seen on 18 April. His body was found the following day after a fire in his home.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Co Kerry last year.

Gardaí in Killorglin investigating the death of Cahillane, who was from Ardraw, Beaufort, Co Kerry, in April 2012, arrested a male in his late 20′s and a female in her early 50′s.

They were arrested this morning in Killorglin, Co Kerry.

The male is being detained at Tralee Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. The female is being detained at Killarney Garda station under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences of the State Act 1939 as amended.

Cahillane’s body was discovered on 19 April 2012 at approximately 2am by members of the fire service responding to a fire at his home.

A post mortem examination carried out by the Assistant State Pathologist found Callihane had suffered injuries consistent with an assault.

Mr Cahillane was seen in Killorglin on the evening of Wednesday 18 April. Gardaí say he finished working at approximately 5.30pm, did some grocery shopping and withdrew some cash from an ATM.

During the evening he visited Sheehan’s and Clifford’s pubs in the town, before taking a taxi to his home at approximately 10.50pm.

Gardaí appealed to anyone who observed or spoke with Cahillane, or noticed anything suspicious or unusual in vicinity of his home between 5.30 pm on 18 April and 2am on 19 April last year to contact them.
