Watch: Jennifer Hudson's incredible Purple Rain tribute to Prince

Broadway audience members joined in as she ended her latest show with a mighty cover of the Prince hit.

AS FANS PAID tribute to Prince in cities across the US last night, a Broadway musical ended with a pretty spectacular cover of one of his greatest hits.

The Color Purple cast’s rendition of Purple Rain was led by Oscar-winning Jennifer Hudson, who told the audience that the superstar had invited them to join him at a recent event.

“He was writing his book and he told me you can bring your cast members along,” she said.

We were honoured to be in his presence one last time and we got to have that moment.
He said his music will live on and he will live through his music so we want to keep him alive today with this song.

Grab some tissues.
