'She talked about God's plan - even in football': John McAreavey on Michaela's faith

The husband of the tragic schoolteacher made the comments on a DVD just released by the Catholic Church.

JOHN MCAREAVEY IS one of a number of lay people who feature on a new DVD launched by the Catholic Church to examine different roles within local parishes.

The young footballer speaks about his wife Michaela’s “unwavering faith” and how it has helped him since her tragic death in Mauritius last year.

According to BBC News, he said that he is now trying to accept that he still has Michaela but “in a different way now”.

Our relationship has changed but I still have her. I always kind of felt that God for me was always there…Michaela had this unwavering faith.
She forever talked about God’s plan – even in football.

The Armagh Diocesan Vocations Team said the project looks at various vocations within the church.

“So often the word vocation is associated only with priesthood but the church is changing rapidly and now lay people are being invited to play a much greater role in the life of the church,” explained director Fr Peter McAnenly.

Launching the DVD last night, Cardinal Seán Brady extended an invitation for more lay people to become involved in the running of their parishes.

‘A Calling for Everyone’ has been circulated through the Armagh dioceses and will be delivered to all parishes and schools.
