Gardaí search for motive in Kenneth O'Brien murder as inquiry enters sixth day

The Dublin man’s dismembered body was discovered on Saturday afternoon.

GARDAÍ ARE CONTINUING to search for a motive in the brutal murder of Kenneth O’Brien, whose body was found in the Grand Canal on Saturday.

Detectives are understood to now be working with international police organisation Interpol to investigate the time he recently spent working in Australia.

The dismembered body of the 33-year-old Dublin man was discovered in a suitcase that had been dumped in the canal near the village of Ardclough in Kildare.

The father of one was named on Tuesday evening after DNA testing was used to identity his body.

Gardaí said he had been killed at another location before being moved to the canal.

Yesterday, detectives searched his house on Lealand Road in Clondalkin, west Dublin, which he last left in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is understood O’Brien, who worked as a JCB driver and diesel fitter, had told family he was going down the country for a job.
