Three members of Kerry family injured in fatal Australia crash

Police say the driver of the other car was drunk.

THREE IRISH PEOPLE from the same family have been injured in a car crash in Australia that left a 56-year-old man dead.

The three have been named as husband and wife Gerard (55) and Marguerite (52) Brosnan from Killarney and their daughter Karen (28).

The three were passengers in a station wagon that was hit by a car in the city of Perth. The 56-year-old driver of the station wagon, father of three Martin Roberts, was killed.

Five passengers were taken to hospital.

Radio Kerry reports that Gerard is in a critical but stable condition while his wife and daughter are in serious but stable conditions.

Western Australia Police say that a 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene, with reports that he had been driving the wrong way.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and a number of driving offences.

He has been released on bail to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court on 3 February.
