Gardaí arrest 42 people and seize drugs in Kilkenny and Carlow

The arrests were for a number of different offences including theft, assault and burglary.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED 42 people and seized drugs and a number of vehicles in Kilkenny and Carlow.

The arrests and seizures today are part of ‘Project Storm’ and gardaí said the purpose was to “prevent crime, disrupt criminal activity, apprehend criminals and to enhance community engagement”.

Officers arrested 42 people, seized €20,000 worth of drugs in 11 incidents and seized five vehicles.

The arrests were for a number of different offences including theft, assault and burglary.

The operation included garda checkpoints and also community gardaí informing members of the public to increase awareness of protection of personal property and possessions.

It involved:

  • 77 checkpoints
  • 21 premises searched
  • 27 arrests for theft, assault, fraud, burglary and drugs offences
  • 15 arrests on warrant
  • Five vehicles seized

There are 17 people currently detained at Kilkenny and Carlow garda stations and a further ten have been charged to appear before the courts in the coming weeks.
