Gardaí appeal to visitors of local Costcutter after death of 29-year-old woman

A man in his 30s is being held for questioning this morning in relation to her death.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for information in relation to the death of a 29-year-old woman in Freshford, Co Kilkenny yesterday.

Paramedics were called to a house at Bridge Street shortly after midday where a woman was discovered with serious injuries. She was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny where she later died. A post-mortem is due to be carried out today.

A man in his 30s was arrested yesterday and is still being held for questioning this morning at Kilkenny garda station. Gardaí are attempting to establish whether the woman’s injuries were accidental or sustained in an assault.

The scene at the house is sealed and is undergoing a forensic technical examination.

This morning gardaí appealed in particular to anybody who visited the local Costcutter shop or who may have been in the Bridge Street area of Freshford Village between the hours of 8am and 1pm on Sunday. They are asking anyone who heard or noticed anything out of the ordinary to contact them.
