Woman in her 70s dies in Killarney crash as man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A man in his 20s was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

GARDAÍ IN KILLARNEY are investigating after a woman in her 70s died in a car crash this afternoon.

The incident happened on the N72 Killarney to Mallow Road at around 2.25pm. Gardaí said the woman died when her car was in a crash with another vehicle.

The driver of the other car, a man in his 20s, has been airlifted to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.

A garda spokesman said: “The road was closed to facilitate a garda forensic collision investigation but has since reopened. Witnesses are asked to contact Killarney on 064 71160, the garda confidential line on 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
