MOST WOMEN WILL settle for tried and tested ways of alleviating labour pains, such as an epidural or entonox gas.

One woman in the United States swears by an unusual alternative – dancing.

A video showing Yuki Nishizawa dancing while in the throes of labour has gone viral, and has been viewed more than 5.6 million times on Facebook at the time of writing.

WCVB reports that the Boston woman tried this technique before; she danced for an entire day during the birth of their first child.

“She wanted to be famous,” her husband Connell Cloyd says in the video, “so I guess this is how you do it, do the Tootsie Roll when you’re in labour.”

Soon after he says this, Yuki’s water breaks, but she keeps going.
